International Yoga Day was celebrated at our school on June 21, 2019. The Chief Guest was Dr. Prathiba Madhusoodanan, Senior Medical Officer at Melpathur Smaraka Ayurveda Hospital, Guruvayur Devaswom, and Managing Director of Sreechithra Ayurveda Group of Hospitals, Chavakkad.
The Chief Guest and Principal inaugurated the celebration by lighting the lamp. This was followed by prayer and the chanting of a hymn by all the students. Dr. Prathiba inspired our students with her inaugural speech highlighting this year’s Yoga Day theme, “Climate Action”, and how the overall practice of yoga creates a harmonic connection between the body and Nature. She concluded her talk by ensuring that practicing yoga is one of the ways to develop into a better human being with a sharp intellect, a relaxed mind and a good heart.
All the students performed various essential yogasanas and pranayamas for improving concentration in studies. All the teachers also performed various yogasanas as part of the celebration.
Various competitions were conducted as well for the students in slogan writing, essay writing, drawing, etc. as part of Yoga Day.
