We conducted Koythulsavam on November 25, 2018 in a very traditional way. Our students ploughed the land and then sowed Uma paddy seeds. After 120 days when the crops were fully grown, our students harvested the paddy without adding any pesticides. To add to the essence of the harvest, our Music teacher and students sang the ‘Koythupattu’. The students then threshed the paddy to separate the grains from the stalk, winnowed the rice and dried it to reduce the moisture content to a safe level for storage. Finally after the milling and husking process, we prepared payasam for the entire school using the rice from the Koythulsavam.
