We celebrated Environment Day at our school on June 6, 2016. The famous poet and lyrist Sri Engandiyur Chandrasekharan was the chief guest for the occasion.
The day began with prayer followed by lighting of the lamp by the chief guest. He gave us a wonderful treat by singing a few songs. Following this, one of our class X students presented a recitation. As part of the celebration, we conducted many programmes such as speeches, quiz, power point presentation, tableau, pencil drawing, etc. We also conducted an exhibition of more than 100 varieties of medicinal plants, proving that Mother Nature is the best doctor.
In order to convey the message of the day to the public, along with our guest, we planted trees in the Chavakkad bus stand .The support we got from the local people is beyond words. We also planted saplings in the school compound and distributed saplings to the students.
We conducted a pencil drawing competition on the topics, “Nature and Man” (class 1-4), “Conservation of Rivers” (class 5-7), “Travelling during the Rainy Season” (class 8-10), and “Air Pollution” (class 11-12).
Through this celebration, our aim was to develop awareness about the importance of conserving our natural resources for future generations, thereby making our state, our country and our world a better place to live in.
